THE POWER OF RECEPTIVITY

Our everyday lives generate a variety of experiences, but what allows these experiences to uplift and transform us? One thing to consider is the depth and clarity of our receptivity. Are we open enough to truly receive what is available to us through the warmth of affection, the beauty of nature, or our own breath?

Are we enriched by our engagement with life or are we simply accumulating experience? When we are open to and nourished by the worlds within and around us without losing who we are, we not only have greater satisfaction with our life as it is but move more easily into the peace, joy and wholeness of the present moment.

Laura Shekerjian is a teacher and psychotherapist who has worked with individuals and groups for over 35 years. She has degrees in Counseling Psychology and Buddhist Studies and draws upon a variety of modalities to actively engage students in the process of self-discovery. She was involved in the development of the 3 Doors, an organization dedicated to transformation through meditation and taught for over a decade as a Senior Teacher. She lives in Berkeley, California.
